Stretch goals OBLITERATED

Wow. So, uh, thank you all. We've slapped the stretch goals out of the water. Just like, pulled 'em up close and said "hey, hey stretch goal, i got something to tell ya" then sucker punched that nerd the instant it got close. Wild. That's wild behaviour. You're gonna get expelled for that shit. Not by me of course, I love it.
So we've got artist raises. I'll be delivering those as soon as the campaign ends. That's gonna end up being about $500 more for the artists, ranging from an extra $25 bucks to an extra $100, depending on what they did.
Kvacm, one of the artists, was like "why?" when I told him the stretch goal was to give him and the others more money. I said "look, I probably underpaid you. You're just charging what you think you deserve, and society has told us that art is cheap. It's not! It's just artists are cheap. Because we want to do this. We want to make books and pictures and songs and we deserve to be paid for them! The idea that we have to suffer in our jobs is negging on a historic scale, a whisper from feudal-lord wannabes who believe in Prosperity Gospels. Fuck that. Take the money."
Okay, i was a little more succinct than that. But anyways, they're getting some of my pie. It's mine. It's ours. And I choose to share.
We also raised $50 for Conjured Ink so far, which isn't a ton but I haven't really advertised it much, and it still makes a difference. I'll talk a bit more about that in a future update. You can always add it on to your pledge! For full disclosure, I'm effectively on the "board" of Conjured Ink insofar as one exists but it is a 100% unpaid volunteer position. Your donations will be used to expand and build on the service so that creators like me can have a platform to sell queer art without being shut down by weird conservatives.
Oh yeah, and we raised enough money for me to actually buy some equipment for the audiobook. I'll be recording that over the next year, it'll probably come out around the same time as the sequel, but i'm not promising jack--i got a toddler over here. I work when I can.
With 55 books sold in 2 days, I'm feeling pretty good about our chances of getting to 200, which brings down the cost per book so that i can then spend more per book (make it make sense!!) and get the traditional print with nice folded leaves and custom-mixed ink. It's about 50% more than the "digital" print, but it's worth it. For you. For Nil and Sook. (oh, now it makes sense)
I'm blown away by your support so far. These are numbers that many small pubs wish they could see. It means a lot, and I know you're gonna have a blast.
Or rather, a boom. Gotta stay on top of the marketing.
Our next goal is $6,000 CAD. What will happen then? Who can say! Oh wait, i already did, three paragraphs ago. So let's do it. LET'S GET THE SPECIAL INKS AND FANCIER PAPER. GURAGHRHRGGHHHH
Later, babes.
